20 notoriously troubled movie sets
'Groundhog Day' (1993)
Notable Participants: Harold Ramis, Bill Murray
What Happened: Harold Ramis and Bill Murray used to be buddies with the sort of closeness that only comes from the shared busting of ghosts or perhaps a shared enrollment in our nation's military. Unfortunately, the pair had a mystery-shrouded falling out on the set of what is almost certainly Ramis' best movie and what is arguably Murray's finest moment. Apparently the disagreements stemmed from a difference of approach to the material, which Murray wanted to approach from a more philosophical direction, rather than Ramis' more comedic aspirations. Murray was also allegedly going through a divorce at the time. Plus, if you look up "Bill Murray" and "feuds," you'll get more than a couple examples anyway. It's not like it prevented "Groundhog Day" from being a classic, but it might have been nice to get a few more Ramis/Murray collaborations.
