Most anticipated movies of the 2012 fall film festival season
'Cloud Atlas,' 'Seven Psychopaths,' 'The Master' and more
'The Impossible'
Director: Juan Antonio Bayona
Starring: Naomi Watts, Tom Holland, Ewan McGregor
Screening at: Toronto
Why: You may believe you've seen every documentary and docudrama you need to see about the 2004 Tsunami that ravaged island nations and coastlines in the Indian Ocean, but "The Impossible" will change that. Bayona's harrowing and vivid drama pulls you into the pain, fear and destruction of nature's monster and the emotional aftermath for a mother and son searching for the rest of their missing family. The question isn't whether the movie is good, it's superb in this commentator's opinion, but how the international press and Toronto audiences will react to it. That being said, don't be surprised if "The Impossible" takes home the festival audience prize.
