Clare Bowen, 'Nashville'

Where You've Seen Her Before: If you're Australian, you've seen her on "The Cut," "Gangs of Oz" or "Home and Away." If you're not? You probably haven't seen her.

Breakout Role: Timid poet (and aspiring songwriter) Scarlett O'Connor

Why: On a series littered with talent (Connie Britton! Hayden Panettiere! Powers Boothe!), Bowen still manages to grab our attention with a soulful ballad and a wide-eyed innocence that's charming instead of insipid. More importantly, the girl can sing -- and on this show by "Thelma & Louise" writer Callie Khouri, performances are as much a key into character as scenes of straight dialogue.
