15 big movie questions for summer: 'Prometheus,' Dark Knight Rises,' Tyler Perry
Could this be the greatest movie summer in decades?
Will audiences buy 'The Bourne Legacy' or wonder where Matt Damon is?
When audiences line up to see the new "Bourne" film, will they be surprised that Matt Damon is nowhere in sight? After three successful films in the spy franchise starring Damon, the latest entry, "The Bourne Legacy," stars rising leading man Jeremy Renner ("The Avengers") as Aaron Cross, another young spy with ties to the shady government organization Treadstone and some very Bourne-like problems (hence, "Legacy"). Being billed as a spin-off, rather that a reboot, the trailer promises some top-notch action, and the presence of Tony Gilroy (who co-wrote the previous "Bournes" and is also directing here) and co-stars Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Albert Finney ensure some continuity. But will audiences be confused? And, even if the film delivers on the action and suspense of the previous films, will Damon still be missed?
