15 big movie questions for summer: 'Prometheus,' Dark Knight Rises,' Tyler Perry
Could this be the greatest movie summer in decades?
Hype alert #1: Will 'The Dark Knight Rises' have any surprises left?
You have to sympathize with Christopher Nolan. After the overwhelming critical response to 2008's "The Dark Knight" and a staggering $533 million at the U.S. box office, the pressure to duplicate that success in the third and final film in his Batman trilogy must be enormous. Moreover, Nolan is always a filmmaker who has thrived on keeping as many details of his films secret so we can pretty much guess all the revelations during the production of "The Dark Knight Rises" didn't sit well with the multiple Oscar nominee. Somehow not learning the lessons from the constant youtube and twitter updates "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" experienced shooting during the daytime in Chicago, "TDKR" not only filmed outdoors in Pittsburgh, but New York City and Los Angeles too. In fact, phone videos have allowed some fans to construct complete scenes from shots filmed in different cities. Nolan and his wife, producer Emma Thomas, feigned surprise at how much as gotten out, but could they really have been that naive? Considering almost everything that has been seen to the public also made the film's first trailers has us wondering. Will all this anticipation, would Nolan really leave so many revelations to chance? Has some of it been a big bait and switch? We'll find out for sure on July 20.
