Why it's underrated: "Constantine" is not a perfect film - far from it. But it is an audacious one - bold and unwieldy and staunchly unwilling to dumb itself down for mainstream consumption. Based on the "occult-noir" DC (later Vertigo) comic-book series "Hellblazer," the Francis Lawrence-directed film is overflowing with a slew of big ideas, inventive special effects and a terrific supporting cast (Rachel Weisz, Tilda Swinton, Peter Stormare, Djimon Honsou) who navigate the material's metaphysical underpinnings with cheeky aplomb. Hell, even Keanu's not bad.
