10 things we still don't understand in 'A Good Day to Die Hard'
We get it's a 'Die Hard' movie but can we have some logic at work here?
Why don't McClaine and his son get along again?
So, we know that John McClane had a rough patch in between "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" set in 1990 and "Die Hard with a Vengeance" which took place five years later. McClane and his wife were separated and he became estranged from his daughter. The latter was chronicled in "Live Free or Die Hard" in 2007. While his son was mentioned in "Live Free" it was never revealed why they were estranged. And, more frustrating, in "A Good Day to Die Hard" we don't even get a hint of why John and Jack haven't seen each other in years. Screenwriter Skip Hoods ("The A-Team") doesn't need to answer every lingering question an audience might have, but wouldn't a little bit of exposition about why Jack seems to hate his father make sense?
