10 Superheroines who need their own movie
Debuted: "Uncanny X-Men" (February 1980)
Previous Movie or TV appearances: "X-Men" (animated), "Wolverine and the X-Men" (animated)
Why: A pop star mutant with ability to transform sound into light and energy? Can you say Marvel Studios' first musical? O.K., maybe that's a stretch, but there is a reason a feature around Allison Blaire has already been rumored to be in the works; Dazzler isn't your typical superhero. Oh, and did we mention she's a longtime member of the X-Men? (Of course, that means whether Marvel or Fox has rights to the character is a big question mark). Originally a "Disco Queen" who wore a disco ball necklace and roller skates to get around, no one is disputing that a version of Dazzler could easily veer off into high camp (i.e. "Xanadu"). However, bring in the right filmmaker and you could have an unconventional rock and roll adventure with hints of "Hedwig and the Angry Itch" or "Purple Rain" to make it legit. All Marvel needs to do is keep Ryan Murphy, Rob Marshall and Adam Shankman away from the dazzling Ms. Blaire, cast the right pop star to play her and the studio could have a hit single on its hands.
