10 Superheroines who need their own movie
Debuted: "Vampirella" #1 (1969)
Previous Movie or TV appearances: "Vampirella" (live-action direct-to-video adaptation)
Why: Certainly one of the more out-of-the-box entries on our list, Vampirella is an outer-space bloodsucker who in the original storyline hitches a ride from her dying home planet of "Drakulon" to Earth, where she becomes a fighter for good against a race of evil vampires. In that sense she's similar to Marvel's Blade, except that he's been the subject of three feature-length movies and Vampirella hasn't (the character was the subject of a poorly-received direct-to-video movie in 1996, but we won't talk about that). Admittedly, her ultra-skimpy outfit would present more than a bit of a problem for any potential big-screen adaptation, but if she could be toned down sufficiently without alienating the series' hardcore fans, there's something to the idea of a movie centered on an ass-kicking (and, yes, super-sexy) female vampire from outer-space. Sure, it's a trashy B-movie idea, but then what's wrong with trashy B-movies?
