Sacha Baron Cohen's Freddie Mercury biopic now due in 2014

“The pieces are all falling into place, though we are now on a slightly later schedule – filming is now scheduled to start in the Spring (of 2013),” wrote Queen axe man Brian May on his official website. He was writing, of course, about the as-yet-untitled Freddie Mercury biopic to star comedian Sacha Baron Cohen as the rock band's late and legendary frontman.

The film -- to be scripted by Peter Morgan ("The Queen," "Frost/Nixon") and produced by Queen’s remaining members May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor) -- will be out through Robert DeNiro’s TriBeCa Productions. May was compelled to tell fans that "contractual things" have been holding up a shoot date and drop.

Filmgoers can expect the Freddie Mercury movie arrival in early 2014.
