Matt Damon says he won't likely play Jason Bourne again
Despite a desire to return to his most famous role, Matt Damon says he's likely done playing Jason Bourne.
He played the Robert Ludlum-created spy in there films, starting with 2002's "The Bourne Identity." He sat out this summer's spin-off, The Bourne Legacy."
"There has not been any movement," Damon told Movieline. "I've always been open to it as long as Paul Greengrass directs, I don't think he's going to do it."
Greengrass directed Damon in "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum," as well as "The Green Zone."
This year's "The Bourne Legacy" stars Jeremy Renner ("The Avengers") as an agent named Aaron Cross, and takes place at the same time as "Ultimatum."
Damon sees that as an impediment to making another film in the series. "What that means, because they use our actors and characters, is that whatever they said [in "Legacy"] is true and so we'd have to acknowledge it in any 'Bourne' movie that we'd do. And that makes it really tough."
He jokingly added, "I don't think we can do the 'Dallas' it-was-all-a-dream scenario . I don't think the audience would go for that after they paid money to see a movie."
Damon will soon be see in Gus Van Sant's "The Promised Land" and opposite Jodie Foster in next year's "Elysium."
