'Hunger Games'' Josh Hutcherson to join Benicio Del Toro in Pablo Escobar drama 'Paradise Lost'

Josh Hutcherson is going from the deadly "The Hunger Games" to the even deadlier drug wars.

The actor is in talks to star alongside Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro ("Traffic") in "Paradise Lost," a drama about the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar, according to Deadline.

Writer-actor Andrea di Stefano ("Life of Pi") is penning the screenplay and will make his directorial debut on the film.

Although "Paradise" recounts the exploits of Escobar, Hutcherson would play the lead role of Nick, a young Irish man on vacation in Colombia, who discovers that his new girlfriend is the niece of the drug kingpin.

Escobar, who eluded capture for many years, was killed in a shoot-out in 1993. The 2001 film "Blow," starring Johnny Depp, is partially based on his life.

"Paradise" is scheduled to shoot in Panama this coming March.

Hutcherson is currently filming "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," and will soon be heard in the animated film "Epic."
