Spoon's Britt Daniel talks about another new supergroup

Britt Daniel is best known as the frontman of Spoon, but lately his time has been devoted to supergroup Divine Fits, which has an inaugural album coming out next month.

However, the singer-songwriter isn't done with all the side project business. It looks like he's helping out on a solo album... for Jason Narducy of Telekinesis/Guided By Voices. Thirteen tracks were recorded with Jon Wurster (Superchunk/Mountain Goats) and Narducy, with Daniel on bass. According to an interview with Exclaim, Daniel said, "It’s basically Jason’s songs, Jason singing. We’re backing him up.”

The name of the project is Spl:t S:ngle, though that may be the name of the set, as well.

Meanwhile, Spoon has nothing coming down the pipeline. As is their normal custom, the band builds the instrumental backing, with Daniel coming up with vocal melody and lyrics on the latter end of the creative process. There are some songs “in the works" and wants the rest of the Spoon crew “to come up with some stuff for me to sing on top of. I just sort of suggested it — I don’t know if they’ll do it. I’ve also come up with a few things. But I’ll finish up with this, and we’ll get back together again.”

For fans, that's a little scary.
