FOX is giving Tuesday comedies "New Girl" and "The Mindy Project" a rare post-"American Idol" showcase. In April. So hang in there, guys!

The network announced this week that "New Girl" and "The Mindy Project" will air in the 9 p.m. hour on Thursday, April 4 following a normal "American Idol" results show. FOX provided synopses for each episode, but they seem spoiler-y, so you can get that information elsewhere, if you don't like surprises.

OK... fine. The "New Girl" episode is titled "Date Night" and the "Mindy Project" episode is titled "Mindy's Birthday." But that's all you're getting out of us.

"New Girl," which regularly wins its time period among adults 18-34 is still considered a sure thing for a third season. "The Mindy Project" is likely to be hovering on the bubble until May
