Kate Walsh will leave 'Private Practice' after 13 episodes

After seven years of playing the character Addison Montgomery on two series, Kate Walsh appears to be moving on.

The "Private Practice" star plans to leave the ABC medical drama when her contract runs out after 13 episodes of the upcoming sixth season. Because the show was created around the Montgomery character (initially spun off from "Grey's Anatomy"), "Practice" is unlikely to continue without her, although the network has made no official announcement.

Creator Shonda Rhimes currently has her hands full with the veteran "Grey's" and the new drama "Scandal."

Co-star Tim Daly also recently announced his impending departure from "Private Practice," according to Deadline, who broke the story.

Walsh first appeared as Montgomery on "Grey's Anatomy" in 2005, moving over to "Private Practice" in '07. She'll soon be seen on the big screen opposite "Harry Potter" starlet Emma Watson in "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower."
