Starz may plot a 'Spartacus' sequel based on Julius Caesar
On the verge of completing one epic ancient saga in which viewers knew the unhappy ending before the show began, Starz may be looking to spin "Spartacus" off into another.
According to Deadline.com, "Spartacus" executive producer Rob Tapert is in the early stages of developing a spinoff series focusing on Gaius Julius Caesar, who will be introduced in the show's upcoming third season, played by Todd Lasance.
The website observes there's no evidence that Caesar was involved in crushing Spartacus' slave rebellion, as if "Spartacus" has been all about the letter-perfect historical accuracy.
"Spartacus: War of the Damned" begins on January 25 on Starz. Check out the teaser art, released earlier this week.
