'The Big C' final season gets co-stars and a subtitle

We already knew that Showtime was letting "The Big C" wrap its series run with a four-episode conclusion, but now we know a subtitle and some guest stars.

Showtime announced that the four-episode "Big C" climax will be titled "The Big C: hereafter" and will be referred to as a "four-part limited event series," which ought to allow for star Laura Linney and co-stars like Oliver Platt and John Benjamin Hickey to be players in the movie/miniseries categories at next year's Emmys.

The network also revealed that Kathy Najimy will appear in all four hours as Cathy's (Linney) therapist, while Isaac Mizrahi will appear in multiple episodes playing Isaac Mizrahi, a mentor to Gabourey Sidibe's Andrea.

"It has been a true joy watching someone as gifted as Laura Linney take Cathy Jamison on her journey these past three seasons," blurbed David Nevins, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. "We wanted to take particular care to honor the fans of the show with a compelling and memorable conclusion. We thank Laura, Jenny Bicks, Darlene Hunt, and 'The Big C’s' gifted ensemble of actors, producers and crew for the remarkable work they have created."

Showtime has yet to set a premiere date for "hereafter."
