'Leverage' braces for what may be its series finale
TNT's "Leverage" isn't necessarily coming to an end, but the drama's creators are treating the fifth season finale like it could be the show's last.
In a letter posted on LeverageFans.com, executive producer Dean Devlin writes, "As of the writing of this letter, we still do not know if there will be a season six of our show. Just as we didn’t know when we created the last three episodes which are about to air. Because of this uncertainty, John Rogers and I decided to end this season with the episode we had planned to make to end the series, way back when we shot the pilot. So, the episode that will air on Christmas is, in fact, the series finale we had always envisioned."
That pretty much says it all. "Leverage" will air its fifth season finale on December 25. The series, which launched in 2008, was already down to under 3.4 million viewers for its fifth season premiere in July and slipped again to roughly 1.9 million viewers when it returned in November.
It has yet to be renewed or officially cancelled.
