Classic John Hughes comedy ‘Weird Science’ to be remade at Universal
The latest film to be processed into the remake machine is "Weird Science," the 1985 from John Hughes ("The Breakfast Club," "Sixteen Candles").
Original producer Joel Silver is packaging the remake at Universal, with writer Michael Bacall ("Project X," "21 Jump Street") on board to pen the script
Silver is aiming for the remake to be edgier and possibly R-rated, according to Deadline.
The 1985 film starred Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith as two teen nerds who create the perfect woman (Kelly LeBrock, duh) using their home computer. Bill Paxton and Robert Downey, Jr. also starred.
A TV adaptation ran on the USA network from 1994 to 1998.
