ESPN and ABC get big numbers for Christmas Day NBA hoops

The NBA's five-game Christmas Day schedule drew big numbers for ABC and ESPN.

The highlight was the Lakers-Knicks game, which did the highest overnight ratings for the opening game of a Christmas double-header on ABC. The second game, featuring the Thunder and Heat did even better, becoming the fourth highest rated NBA regular season game on ABC, and the highest rated regular season game in either the Miami or Oklahoma City markets.

The three subsequent games were the highest rated triple-header on ESPN and they were up 17 percent from the games in 2010. ESPN notes that last year's Christmas games were the tip-off to the strike-shortened 2011-2012 season.
