When one thinks about the music of Bob Dylan, the phrase "shockingly violent" usually doesn't come to mind.

But that's what some are calling the troubadour's latest video for the single  "Duquesne Whistle."

The song comes from Dylan's upcoming 35th studio album, "The Tempest." The video in question follows a young man who, while trying to woo a pretty girl, gets maced, arrested, abducted and tied to a chair and beaten. Then -- to add insult to injury -- Dylan and his Merry Pranksters completely ignore him as he lies defeated on the sidewalk. 

Rolling Stone called the clip "shockingly violent," while The Wall Street Journal says it's misunderstood and is all in good fun.

Whether there's an actual controversy here or not, the hype can only help aid the sales of "The Tempest," which comes out September 11.
