Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater developing 'Before Midnight'
In 1995, Richard Linklater directed Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy as two lovestruck young people who share one amazing night of conversation and romantic longing together in "Before Sunrise." In 2004, they met again in "Before Sunset" (following a brief appearance together in 2001's "Waking Life"). Ever since, fans have been clamoring to check in on the duo.
Hawke revealed to MTV that he and writer-director Linklater ("Slacker," "School of Rock") are together in Greece working on ideas for the film, tentatively titled "Before Midnight."
"We’re here writing a third installment to ‘Before Sunrise,’" he revealed. "If it works out, we’ll film it, and if it doesn’t, we won’t. It’s not really worth talking about. I’m just here developing."
If that sounds noncommittal, another quote from the same interview should inspire more confidence. Hawke added, “It’s super good. We’re just here workshopping it and developing it, trying to create a great script.”
"Sunrise" took place in Vienna, while "Sunset" took place in Paris. Will Delpy and Hawke next meet in Athens?
