Synopsis for Spike Jonze's new film starring Joaquin Phoenix revealed
After Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" (pictured) arriving in theaters soon, Joaquin Phoenix will continue his career comeback with an eccentric role in "Adaptation" director Spike Jonze's next feature. The film wrapped earlier this month, and the first official synopsis of the film hit the web earlier this week.
Although it has been previously rumored that Phoenix was playing a man who falls in love with the disembodied voice of a Siri-like smart phone app, the synopsis on the still-untitled film's production company site sheds a little more light on the film's out-there plot.
"In the not so distant future, Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix), a lonely writer purchases a newly developed operating system designed to meet the user’s every needs. To Theodore’s surprise, a romantic relationship develops between him and his operating system. This unconventional love story blends science fiction and romance in a sweet tale that explores the nature of love and the ways that technology isolates and connects us all."
Phoenix will be joined by his "The Master" co-star Amy Adams, plus Olivia Wilde ("Tron Legacy") and Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo") in a role originally slated for Carey Mulligan.
