When "Game of Thrones" vet Alan Taylor signed on to direct "Thor 2," many fans of the show were ecstatic to hear that the helmer was making the leap from TV to the big screen with such a high-profile, high-potential project. 

Star Chris Hemsworth, it turns out, is just as excited.

 "Alan Taylor is directing, and he's one of the producers and directors of 'Game of Thrones.' I love that sort of mythical element, that there was an organic real world there, and I think Asgard and Thor's ethereal universe could be injected with that," Hemsworth  told MTV. "It could be more sort of tangible. So more locations, less green screen. I think the Viking influence that that sort of world came from. It should feel [tangible]. It should exist more, instead of too shiny, clean, golden."

Robert Rodat ("Saving Private Ryan") is currently working on a script, which Hemsworth says he hasn't yet seen.
 
Hemsworth also denied rumors that the sequel's main villain would be Thanos, despite the recent casting of "Casino Royale" baddie Mads Mikkelsen as an unnamed villain. Hemsworth dismissed the idea as "too easy."

So far, co-stars Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and Idris Elba are also slated to return.

"Thor 2" is scheduled to be released November 15, 2013, following "Iron Man 3" and preceding "Captain America 2" and, presumably, "The Avengers 2."
