We aren't exactly sure how or why this is going to encourage people to tune in, but bombastic blockbuster director Michael Bay is coming to ABC's "The Neighbors."

According to TVLine.com, Michael Bay will play himself, as the character bumps into Jami Gertz's Debbie at a club.

This seems random until you remember -- or learn -- that the "Transformers" and "Bad Boys" director was the subject of a punchline earlier in the season, implying either that Michael Bay is an alien or that Michael Bay has direct inside information on aliens.

Perhaps we'll find out the truth when Bay appears on "The Neighbors" in early 2013.
