'Thor' star Chris Hemsworth in talks to join 'Candy Store'
Chris Hemsworth has a sweet tooth.
The "Thor" and "Avengers" star has allegedly been offered a part in "Candy Store," a crime drama that has already attracted the interest of Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington and Christoph Waltz, according to The Film Stage.
Academy Award-winning writer/director Stephen Gaghan ("Syriana," "Traffic") is calling the shots on the film. It centers on a deep-cover operative whose cover is blown, causing him to lose everything. He begins anew as a Brooklyn beat cop, only to find out that the global organization he was fighting is now based on his own home turf.
Among the other names rumored to be interested in joining the film are Jamie Foxx, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Bradley Cooper. Heavy.
Meanwhile, Hemsworth is also circling a role in the Steve McQueen biopic "Triumph." The film could turn out to be a family affair, as his younger brother Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games") is already signed on. There's no director attached as of yet, but there is another McQueen biopic (untitled as of now) in the works, with Hemsworth's "Avengers" co-star Jeremy Renner attached.
Chris Hemsworth will soon be seen in the "Red Dawn" remake and in Ron Howard's racing drama "Rush."
