'Avengers' star Mark Ruffalo says no Hulk standalone films being planned

Hulk fans hoping to see the Avenger in his own spin-off may get angry when they hear the latest news from actor Mark Ruffalo.

After the stellar success of Ruffalo's take on the big green guy in last years "The Avengers," it was widely reported that Marvel was planning a new long-term solo career for the character. However, those plans don't appear to be a priority at Marvel for now.

Earlier this week, Ruffalo tweeted, "A lot of folks have been asking about the Next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in the Avengers 2. No plans for stand alone." He added, "I am not giving up on another stand alone HULK. But it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring."

Likewise, "Avengers" director Joss Whedon previously admitted that a Hulk solo effort would be "very, very hard" to pull off, but seemed to indicate that it's still a possibility.

Of course, Ruffalo is contracted to appear in six Marvel films, so things could change. He'll reprise the role in 2015's "Avengers 2," although plot details are not yet known. There's also a chance Hulk could appear in other heroes' standalone films.
