10 Hollywood stars who need a hit
Jim Carrey, Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman and others struggle to get back on top
The Situation: We're a long way from her hot streak ten years ago that included "Moulin Rouge!," "The Others," "The Hours" and "Cold Mountain." Since then, she's toplined risible remakes ("The Stepford Wives," "Bewitched" and "Invasion"), misfired epics ("Golden Compass" and "Australia") and the singularly awful "Trespass." Kidman's recent high points have been acclaimed performances in the relatively little-seen indies "Margot at the Wedding" and "Rabbit Hole," but are they enough? The last studio hit she was associated with was "Just Go With It."
Why there's hope: Park Chan-Wook's English-language debut "Stoker" and Lee Daniels' "The Paaperboy" may not have mega-hit potential, but might help viewers forget that Kidman's biggest recent box office success story was a supporting part in an Adam Sandler movie.
