Can the studio movies survive the onslaught of TV show hype at Comic-Con this year?
Remember last summer when the Comic-Con organizers finally conceded that popular TV programs needed to fill some of Hall H's valuable panel time? Well, get ready for even more fan-friendly shows jumping from Ballroom 24 to the main hall this July. With a laundry list of shows deserving the bigger stage growing by the month, the question is what movie studio is going to have to grit their teeth and take Ballroom 24 or - lord have mercy - the Hilton Bayside Ballroom instead (true fact: this movie journalist has never even stepped inside there)? Because, it doesn't take a Comic-Con veteran to recognize the power appears to be heading to the small screen. And if the movie studios refuse to play some of their smaller movies (y'know, the ones where Hall H ends up half deserted for an hour) in a smaller venue? Well, that's one turf war they may finally lose.
