Reports indicate "Argo" director Ben Affleck was in the final mix to direct the new episode.  Just how seriously interested was he? He's basically admitted he had no interest in "Justice League" and his disinterest in Sci-Fi or genre has been very apparent since he starred in "Daredevil." Is this a PR leak to make it look like Abrams wasn't Disney and Kennedy's only target? Odd to say the least.
