Jennifer Hudson's film career hasn't made much headway since her riveting, Oscar-winning performance in director Bill Condon's "Dreamgirls," but maybe that's because she hasn't been offered the right projects. For an African-American female, there sadly aren't too many options in the superhero genre - unless, of course, studios are willing to engage in a bit of color-blind casting - though she'd certainly make a great Storm if the character ends up in one of the forthcoming "X-Men" installments (another idea for that same franchise: the intriguing "energy vampire" Threnody). Outside of that, we can see her taking on the role of superheroine Vixen in a future "Justice League" film or, alternately, Monica Rambeau (a.k.a. Captain Marvel/Photon/Pulsar) in an "Avengers" flick. The question is, does the former "American Idol" contestant have the chops needed to play an action heroine? It would certainly be interesting to find out.
