10 New Shows We're Worried About After Upfronts 2012
'Elementary,' 'The Neighbors' and 'Mob Doctor' are among the shows that have us on edge
"Chicago Fire" (NBC)

Why we're worried: When your number-one takeaway from the promos for a show about a group of brave emergency responders is "those guys should totally pose for a wall calendar," it's not a great sign. Unfortunately, NBC's "Chicago Fire" essentially comes off as a made-for-TV remake of "Backdraft," with even the central conflict between two rival firehouse lieutenants (Jesse Spencer and a frequently-shirtless Taylor Kinney) feeling warmed over.
Why it could still end up OK: We all know firefighters are heroes, but there's a tendency to lay it on thick with these kinds of things. Expecting the flawed and complex characters of a show like "Rescue Me" from a Dick Wolf production is probably asking too much, but if the writers can balance the explosive spectacle inherent in the premise with a set of characters we can actually care about and relate to, "Chicago Fire" might actually be a show worth watching.
