10 most heart-stopping moments in 'Breaking Bad' history
5. Jesse murders Gale
Episode: Season 3, Episode 13 ("Full Measure")
Gale Boetticher was one of the show's more eccentric -- and mysterious -- characters, but like so many of them on "Breaking Bad," the dude had to go. Gus needed his cook, and it was a few nail-biting minutes where Walt's demise was imminent because Pollos Hermanos had its man. The moment Jesse (finally) pulled a trigger was an exact one where one man's life was the exchange for the other, though ultimately that act of murder was the sheer start to Jesse's unhinging. It was also another repeating and prime example of Walt's exorcise over Pinkman, as his student/son/puppet/henchman, a foul-mouthed trouble-making vessel into which White's psycopathy has poured. That lasting shot, of looking at the shaking barrel of Jesse's gun? Our hearts stopped a little too.
