10 least-deserving Oscar winners for Best Original Song
'You Light Up My Life' from 'You Light Up My Life' (1977)
Why it didn't deserve the win: I can’t believe I really have to write anything to justify this song’s inclusion, but in its defense, it was up against some fairly weak songs by otherwise legendary songwriters, so in some ways, I hand it to Oscar voters they didn’t simply vote by name alone and award “The Slipper and the Rose Waltz” by The Sherman Brothers or Sammy Fain’s “”Someone’s Waiting For You.” I cannot, however, explain why they picked “Life” over “Nobody Does It Better.” To this day, no James Bond theme has won, but I think Adele’s about to put an end to that.
Better choice: “Nobody Does It Better” (“The Spy Who Loved Me”)
