10 'Justice League' members who deserve a shot on the big screen
How many do you recognize?
Pros: She's a hot chick in fishnets who does magic. What do you need, a road map? Like Hawkman and Doctor Fate, Zatanna sprang from the imagination of Gardner Fox, one of DC's great creative voices, and she is a stage illusionist who also knows real magic. While that may not sound like much of a hook, she has consistently proven to be one of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe, capable of incredible, world-altering things. Anyone who has read "Identity Crisis" knows just how far she can go to change things, and just how dangerous that can be, even for her friends. She and Batman have frequently been shown to be close, and she has played a key role in some major chapters in his life. She's a morally ambiguous character in many ways, and she adds some fascinating dynamics to the Justice League if she's a member.
Cons: If you don't know the character, she can easily be dismissed as silly. When you read the work that Paul Dini did with her or when you see the best of her "Batman" appearances, you can see how well she can be used, but she's had trouble carrying solo books and she's also suffered from quite a bit of corporate rethinking lately. If they do include her in the film as part of the team, here's hoping they go for it and use the real Zatanna and not a watered down version of the character. Her powers are terrifying because they seem to encompass so much potential, and that should be seen as a strength, not a weakness.
