'Bride of Frankenstein'

Mary Shelly's Frankenstein story has been depicted on the big screen countless times over the last century (including various new versions) but the 1931 Universal film starring Boris Karloff as the monster still stands as the definitive version, so much so that it's hard to watch without being reminded of the myriad spoofs/tributes/remakes that followed. However, the 1935 sequel "Bride of Frankenstein" (both were directed by James Whale) is actually a better film; it's more ambitious, scarier, more amusing and moves like a bullet. Plus, that hair just can't be ignored.
