10 elements from the Superman mythos we'd like to see in a movie
Will we ever see Darkseid, Braniac or Bizarro on the big screen?
Though General Zod has appeared in three different Superman films, until recently he was a fairly minor villain in the comics. Since the late '50s, Superman's number two nemesis (after Luthor, of course) has been the alien super genius Brainiac. Like Luthor, Brainiac represents a mind-over-muscle approach to battling the Man of Steel, but he supplements that with a whole lot of alien hardware, including a shrink ray that he used to put the Kryptonian city of Kandor into a bottle. Whether Kandor is involved or not, the great thing about Brainiac is that he's had so many different incarnations and visual designs — green-skinned humanoid, evil super robot, human/alien hybrid — that a director and screenwriter could go in almost any direction and come up with a compelling, creepy, visually interesting villain.
