10 elements from the Superman mythos we'd like to see in a movie
Will we ever see Darkseid, Braniac or Bizarro on the big screen?
Bizarro has shown up in television's "Smallville," and there was a riff on the character in "Lois & Clark" as well. On film, we almost kinda/sorta/not really got a taste of him in "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" via deleted scenes featuring actor Clive Mantle as Lex Luthor's first, failed, Nuclear Man experiment. But a true embrace of the character has never happened. With his "freeze vision," "flame breath" and ability to only see through lead, Bizarro is the opposite of Superman, strengthened rather than weakened by green Kryptonite, etc. Making all of that work narratively would certainly be a challenge, but in the right hands, it could be fun. Imagine seeing Htrae, aka Bizarro World, on screen. The mind reels. (FUN FACT: Robert Gordon, author of "Galaxy Quest," actually wrote a "Bizarro" film for Warner Bros. that is brilliant and just sitting on a shelf, waiting to be filmed. We'll have a piece up before the release of "Man of Steel" taking a closer look at Superman movies that almost were, and "Bizarro" in particular.)
