DreamWorks Animation moves to 20th Century Fox
The one future bright spot for big Fox besides the upcoming "Avatar" sequels is the company's new distribution deal with DreamWorks Animation. The studio snagged the lucrative package from Paramount Pictures who alienated DWA CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg over plans for their own animated films (see the success of "Rango"). Fox, which owns Blue Sky Studios responsible for the "Ice Age" films among others, had no such qualms and may now find itself having to defer to the giant DWA for prime release dates and marketing teams. At the worst, it will provide Fox with a bloated global market share which only helps their standing with theater owners.
