Nothing rocked Hollywood more in 2012 than the Walt Disney Company's surprise acquisition of Lucasfilm.  George Lucas had said for years that he wanted to retire and make "smaller films," but like boy who cried wolf few believed he'd ever seriously "retire." Even the appointment of Kathleen Kennedy as president of the company didn't change the perception of the situation. Imagine the shock then on Oct. 30, when Disney announced not only was it buying Lucasfilm, but that three new "Star Wars" films were already in the works (and how they kept it secret from a prying media in 2012 was jaw-dropping).  Now, Disney has a license to reap the benefits from on the big screen and across all its properties for generations.  And Lucas, well, he can sleep soundly knowing his kids won't be responsible for the further adventures of the Skywalker family.
