"Vengeance of Bane" (1993)

Naturally any Batman movie that hopes to tell a faithful story about the villain Bane will look to the the character's origin story, "Vengeance of Bane," for inspiration. And indeed, it's a fabulous place to start mining for character. It made for a great lead-in to the events of the next arc on the list and offered a significant analysis of Bane's psyche before throwing him into one of the Dark Detective's most significant milestones. A second part of the story was put forth two years later, but it doesn't tie in to "The Dark Knight Rises" much.
