Holland 'Dutch' Wagenbach & Claudette Wym, 'The Shield'
I don't work in a police squad room, but somehow I imagine that Dutch & Claudette are what most effective crime-solving duos are actually like. Jay Karnes' Dutch Wagenbach was a socially awkward ego maniac with possibly sociopathic tendencies. CCH Pounder's Claudette Wyms was a steady authority figure with a strong moral compass. Left to their own devices, they'd probably never work together and in the field they constantly disagree. Still, they solved cases at an impressive rate, usually by realizing that which of their strengths were best suited to get results. And then, at the end of the day, they'd go their separate ways, never hanging out but usually with mutual respect. Oh and they almost never beat up suspects, made deals with drug lords or stole millions from the Armenian mob, so... bonus.
