Losers: "The Social Network" and "True Grit"
I'll leave it to the pundits to figure out why "The Social Network" peaked too early and went from presumptive favorite to the winner of only three awards, including Screenplay and Score (Trent Reznor, now an Oscar winner!). It's still disappointing. But at least "The Social Network" won a few Oscars. "True Grit" went 0-for-10, not that you need to pity the Coen Brothers for Oscar starvation. Other Best Picture nominees that enjoyed winless nights included "Winter's Bone," "127 Hours" and The Kids Are All Right," which all combined for fewer Oscars than "The Wolfman."
