10 must play games this November

Now, I'd be the first to admit that 2011 has been a little slow in the world of gaming thus far, with the exception of a couple of announcements of things to come ('Grand Theft Auto V', anyone?), and a game here or there that's been fun, but not world-beating. Of course, that's because we've been waiting for the perfect storm of gaming that is this November, when a spate of games comes your way that will keep you playing well into 2012, and, if the Mayans are right, perhaps right up until the end of the world. So, let's take a look at the games of this seriously amazing November, and see what you're going to be doing this Fall and Winter.

so many triple AAA titles, despite the world crashing around us, at least we have our video games. I assume you aren't much of a Zelda fan though?

So Dead Space 2, Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, LA Noire, Gears 3, Dark Souls, Rage, Batman, and Battlefield 3 equals a slow year? All of those titles are "fun, but not world beating"?

Yeah pretty ridiculous that Zelda isn't on here, since it's pretty much the most highly anticipated Wii game ever. And this year has actually been a pretty good one for games, with all those titles TheHolyAvenger mentioned, as well as some others like Deus Ex.

Honestly, I don't even really understand why HitFix has these video game slideshows every once in a while. Either have a gaming section with it's own regular updates and articles, or just don't bother at all.

TheHolyAvenger - You're right, there have been a number of good games this year, but four of the eight you mentioned have come out in the past month. There were great gaps of empty space in 2011, where there wasn't a lot going on, if you know what I mean.

And, for the rest of the commenters, I wouldn't say I wasn't a Zelda fan, per se, but I'll believe the game is good when I see it. When was the last time you got wowed by a Wii title? It'll be deep, but will it be fun for anyone who's not a Zelda freak?

Wishsong214 Mario Galaxy 2. And the first one, but the second upped the wow-factor.

And if that logic is true, then basically every game that gets on this list should be discredited. What if I'm not a FPS fan, and so Call of Duty doesn't "wow" me? Hardly seems right...or, even more importantly, you put Goldeneye, an HD remake of an average FPS shooter that was a remake of an FPS that only gets by on nostalgia and what it did for the genre, but doesn't hold up today.

neverthehero Game Informer gave the game a 10/10. It's not that I care if you don't like Zelda or the Wii. It's that you put a freaking Lego game over Zelda. A Legendary developer putting at least 3-4 years of effort into a legendary series doesn't rank above a lego game? It's called giving the benefit of the doubt to someone who has earned it. Nintendo certainly has earned it.

neverthehero Oh @WishONG214 I finally was able to afford Galaxy 2 at a decent price. I've been playing it the last past two weeks. Freaking amazing, the little touches of polish . A shame I'm stuck finishing the special world on the Cyclone level. Ugh!

Lay off, guys... he's right, Wii games suck.

This month is all about Halo for me. Not just because of the maps (including the GREAT Halo2 maps) for online play, but because besides Reach, Halo:CE has the best story, and now, it's available all spruced-up with achievements and the ability for online co-op.

It'll take me back to the days of LAN Parties in my barracks. I can't wait!

Sorry, but your commenters have a point. You don't need to be a Zelda fan to be wow'd by Zelda. People who weren't Zelda fans were wow'd by Ocarina of Time. People BECAME Zelda fans because of that game.

Skyward Sword is actually challenging its ranking as a Zelda game. I think fans of Skyrim and Assassin's Creed especially will have much to appreciate in the new Zelda title.

I'm into Skyrim right now, but I WILL be putting it down to complete Skyward Sword. I'm a Dragonborn, the Stormcloaks won't mind waiting a little while I go tend to an issue in Skyloft. If they ask questions, I'll just tell them I got lost. :)

I'm sorry, Mr. D'Alonzo, but you can't blame your readers for pointing out the missing Zelda game. :)

Many people were not Zelda fans when Ocarina of Time came out. They became Zelda fans in those coming months and years. The game became a legend in its own rite.

Skyward Sword actually has ratings to challenge OOT. I AM a Zelda fan, and that shocks me a little. If you really think Skyward Sword's reviewers are bluffing, then really think this through. Personally, I think that the game will have a lot to offer fans of some of your listed games, like Assassin's Creed, like Skyrim.

Me? I love Skyrim. But when the 20th roles around, my Dragonborn will have to take a temporary leave and tend to some issues in Skyloft, instead. If the Stormcloaks have a problem with that, I'll just tell them I got lost. :)

I'm sorry, but you can't blame your readers for pointing out the missing Zelda game in this list. Can you REALLY say it doesn't rank with the rest of these?

Skyward Sword actually has ratings to challenge OOT. I AM a Zelda fan, and that shocks me a little. You must realize that fans of the series are tremendously picky. OOT has become a shrine of sorts. If people are willing to place the game with or above OOT, there COULD be cocaine in the packaging. Hey, you never know!

But If you really think Skyward Sword's reviewers are bluffing, just stop for a moment. Take a deep breath. Think this through! Personally, I think that the LOZ: SS will have a lot to offer fans of some of your listed games, like Assassin's Creed, like Skyrim. It will be an adventure and an Epic of sorts. And with the Wiimote integrated to swing a sword in real time, in a game with a real story (and not just various forms of fruit,) I think it will attract more than mere Zelda fans.

Me? I love Skyrim. But when the 20th roles around, this Dragonborn will have to take a temporary leave and tend to some issues in Skyloft, instead. If the Stormcloaks have a problem with that, just tell them I got lost. :)
