"Believe" (NBC, Spring TBD)
So far, "Believe" is on its third or forth showrunner and NBC has yet to give this midseason drama a premiere date or to begin promoting it, which will already be a challenge since it stars relative unknowns Johnny Sequoyah and Jake McLaughlin. Normally, that would seem like a bad sign, but do you want the good sign? It begins and ends with two words: "Alfonso. Cuaron." The "Gravity" director is heading towards an inevitable Oscar nomination (or three or four, depending on how editing and writing nods go) and, depending on the moment, he may be the front-runner. Cauron wrote and directed the pilot, which focuses on a little girl with special powers and the mysterious convict charged with protecting her. Given his intense "Gravity"-promoting schedule, it's unclear how much time Cuaron has been able to give "Believe," but surely fellow executive producer J.J. Abrams has been constantly available, right? Hmmm.
