"Washington Heights" (MTV, January 9)
The idea is simple: "Jersey Shore" starring Dominican-Americans instead of guidos and guidettes. But with a focus on the largely Latino New York neighborhood, the problems are likely to be more real (and relatable) than a simple compulsion to fight, drink, tan and screw around. The pressures that come with paying bills, having a parent in jail and having to sort out how much to sacrifice to follow a dream (or when to put it aside) sound a lot more significant than figuring out who drank the last of the tequila.
