"Stars in Danger: The High Dive" (Fox, Jan. 9)/"Celebrity Diving" (ABC, March 19)
You know what's awesome? Stars jumping off diving boards! You know what's even more awesome? Two whole shows of stars jumping off diving boards! Stop laughing; I'm serious. Apparently the U.S., having run out of ideas during the Great Originality Drought of 2008, had no choice but to pilfer the star diving concept from Europe. "Celebrity Diving" is based on a show from the Netherlands, while "Stars in Danger: The High Dive" is based on a German show. Apparently watching stars high dive in these countries has scored a ratings bonanza, but I'm still not sure if the second-ranked program isn't a test pattern. In any case, the idea of two celebrity diving shows is just weird enough that it could be wonderful. At least we know it will most definitely be all wet.
