30. "The Grandmasters"
In theaters: 2012 TBD
Director: Wong Kar Wai
Cast: Tony Leung, Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen, Cung Le
Lowdown: Donnie Yen made a strong international impression with his "Ip Man" films, and they're both great fun for martial arts fans, but now legendary art house director Wong Kar Wai is tackling the same story with Tony Leung starring.
Drew McWeeny says: Wong Kar Wai hasn't made a feature film since "My Blueberry Night," and he hasn't really connected since 2004's "2046." Or, depending on your POV, since "In The Mood For Love" in 2000. To hear he's tackling a real martial arts movie and telling this particular story… I'm betting this is one of the big premieres at this year's Cannes festival, and I can't wait to lay eyes on it.
