17. "Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Osama Bin Laden Project"

In theaters:  December 19, 2012
Director:  Kathryn Bigelow
Cast:  Rooney Mara, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Ehle
Lowdown:  The first film for the acclaimed filmmaker since "The Hurt Locker," and she's dealing with the team that killed Bin Laden and collaborating with her "Hurt Locker" writer Mark Boal.

Drew McWeeny says:  This would have been interesting even if they hadn't actually found and killed Bin Laden this year, but real life seems determined to give Bigelow another big buzz movie, and this time, she's working with a pretty serious budget and the full support of Sony.  This could be one of the things we are most preoccupied with this time next year, or at least we hope so.
