Lowdown: When two-time Academy Award winning documentarian Barbara Kopple sets her sights on a subject, that's reason enough to take note. But this examination of the Hemingway family's dark history of mental illness and suicide through the eyes of the great author's granddaughter Mariel steps up the intrigue by dealing with dense material that's personally appealing (Hemingway is my favorite author and a personal obsession).
